I love everything about this video 🥰 Emotional I love everything about this video 🥰 Emotional support is so important, yet our boys are often taught from a young age to suppress their feelings or that showing emotion makes them weak. But let’s be very clear,our boys need love, encouragement, and affection just as much as our girls do, especially from their fathers. They need to know it's okay to cry, and it's okay to have feelings. Fathers matter !! They really do. They set the tone, shape the foundation, and show our boys that strength includes vulnerability. The reason is is that right out the gate, the mome The reason is is that right out the gate, the moment you enter the workforce, you are taught as a black person,you must outwork everybody within the company just to be recognized. I have seen first-hand how white women can insert themselves into the workforce and be mediocre and do the absolute bare minimum. We don’t get the training that is necessary for us to be able to the job. We have to figure it out. Sink or swim, there is no outcry or support if we do not understand or if we become overwhelmed. We must get it out of the mud. The moment when a white woman comes into the office and says that she does not get it,she is not reprimanded, she is handed all of the tools and resources that she needs in order for her to be successful within the company. Knowing that as a black woman, I have to go over and beyond just to be underpromoted and underpaid , but overworked is unsettling. It almost makes you feel inferior, but you know better than that 😏 but there are definitely days when you feel like, the hell with this damn company! I tell any woman when they are applying for new positions, the following two things, and I mean it. 1. Negotiate your pay from the gate. Let your employer know straight from the gate, you know your value, please do not leave money on the table. Negotiate. Negotiate. Negotiate. 2. EEOC is your friend. Please find your company handbook, read it and apply it. In some companies the rules only apply to you and believe it or not, it’s against the law. File a complaint and keep your job. Back then I use to ask why me, now I ask why not m Back then I use to ask why me, now I ask why not me. My early 20s, I had so many tragic events that occurred back to back, and I couldn't wrap my head around it. I was like Lord, what did I do to deserve all this, I'm a good person. Why is this happening to me. It seemed like every time, I would move past one thing, something else would happen. It would be situations completely out of my control. As I got older, I realized that life happens and every event in my life is not gonna be rainbows and unicorns. I'm not so special that I get to be exempt from pain and hardship. Just remember when bad things happen to you, it's nothing you did, it's not your Karma, it's just a part of journey in life.
